Terms and Condition 2026:

Lessons

    •    Lessons are one-to-one and taught in your home.

    •    Lessons are 30 minutes.

    •    I teach in a flexible, student-centred way, sometimes informal and exploratory, sometimes structured (including ABRSM routes where appropriate).

    •    Teaching style may change over time to suit the student’s progress, confidence, and learning needs.

Teaching Approach

    •    Lessons may include piano, music theory, composition, music history, and music technology.

    •    Confidence, enjoyment, and communication are as important as technique.

    •    I work with a wide range of learning styles, including ADHD and dyslexia.

    •    Both “learning for pleasure” and “working towards goals” are equally valid.

Arrival Times

    •    As I travel between students’ homes, I cannot guarantee exact arrival times.

    •    Lessons are given within an agreed time window, allowing for traffic and delays.

    •    I always aim to be punctual and will keep delays to a minimum.

Lesson Length

    •    Lessons are 30 minutes.

    •    I may occasionally run slightly over to complete a learning point or speak with parents.

    •    Any brief extra time is included in the lesson fee.

Fees & Payment

    •    £25 per 30-minute lesson (2026 rate).

    •    Payment is made monthly in advance, based on the number of lessons planned that month.

    •    Payment can be made by bank transfer or cash.

    •    If I cancel a lesson, your payment will be rolled over to the following month.

Cancellations

    •    48 hours’ notice is required to cancel a lesson.

    •    Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice will forfeit the lesson fee.

    •    This is due to travel planning and business overheads.

    •    If I cancel unexpectedly, your lesson will be credited.

Illness

    •    I have a compromised immune system.

    •    Please let me know if the student or household is unwell.

    •    I will also notify you if I am unwell and unable to attend.

    •    Communication here helps protect everyone and avoid disruption.

Your Responsibilities

    •    A working piano or keyboard must be available for lessons and practice.

    •    Some practice effort is expected between lessons.

    •    From time to time, you may need to purchase books or learning materials.

    •    Open feedback on progress, confidence, or concerns is encouraged.

Testimonials

    •    After some time working together, I may ask for a short testimonial.

    •    Testimonials (and photos, if you’re happy to provide them) help others find my service.

    •    Participation is appreciated but not compulsory.

Financial Support

    •    If you are on benefits or experiencing financial difficulty, please speak to me privately.

    •    I am happy to discuss options to avoid misunderstandings and assist where posible.
